Baoqing Bamboo Carving Wins Awards at Arts & Crafts Fair

On May 3, a national intangible cultural heritage-Baoqing bamboo -carving won four silver awards and one bronze award at the 2013 China Arts and Crafts “Hundred Flowers Award” event and at the 8th China Cross-strait Arts & Crafts Fair Competition in Putian. The craft shone once again after winning a gold award and two bronze awards at the National “Golden Phoenix” Innovative Product Design Competition earlier this year.

The “Hundred Flowers Award” is recognized as China’s highest  Arts and Crafts distinction. . The vase entitled The Charm of Chu and Han Dynasty created by Wang Haoyu, a senior artist from Shaoyang City, and the Special-shape Scroll-style Brush Holder created by Lu Fanlin and Lu Haiyan each won silver Hundred Flowers Awards. Bamboo pyrograph Baoqing Impression by Professor Tang Wenlin of the Art Department of Shaoyang University was given the bronze award. The bamboo relief brush holder Searching for Hermit in Xishan created by Tang Chaolin, and the hanging screen Meet Across the Milky Way created by Chen Zhilong took silver awards at the “Arts & Crafts Fair” Outstanding Work Competition.
