Changsha, Canada to Promote Closer Cooperation

On October 24, Changsha Mayor Zhang Jianfei met with a delegation led by Dean Fortin, mayor of Victoria, Canada.

Last December, a delegation of Changsha Municipal People’s Government signed with Dean Fortin an agreement on establishing friendly cooperation cities relationship. So far, the two cities have developed various types of cooperation in such fields as education, travel, economy and trade. For instance, Mingde Middle School and Victoria have collaboratively developed the “Study Development Channel” project, which provides opportunities for students at Mingde Middle School to study and develop in Canada.

Mayor Zhang said, Victoria’s experience in fields like industry, education and environment protection is worth learning by Changsha. He hoped that Victoria can promote mutual exchanges and cooperation in these fields.

Dean Fortin remarked that Victoria, an increasingly growing city in economy, is gradually receiving more overseas Chinese. He also expressed his hope that the two sides have much closer cooperation in sectors including education, economy and travel, so as to achieve a win-win situation.
