China Academy Museum Opens in Changsha

The China Academy Museum, the country’s only museum featuring the history of Chinese academies and cultural education, opened to the public in Changsha on June 14, 2012. Thousands of ancient Chinese academies were represented in murals in the museum.

The museum is located in Yuelu Academy. It shares complementariness with Yuelu Academy that is a typical case of the traditional Chinese academies; the museum displays rich culture of academy by modern means, according to Chen Songchang, vice president of the museum.

The floor area of the museum covers 4,768 square meters, with an exhibition area of 3,180 square meters. It costs over 50 million yuan, some of which is donated by Master Hsing Yun from Taiwan. It is made up of millennium hall of music (sing to the accompaniment of stringed instruments), academic education hall, academic study hall, and hall of academy worship, books, and engraved books.
