Emperor Yan and Emperor Huang Applies to Be Adopted by World Intangible Cultural

Tan Yan, deputy to the National People’s Congress and director of Tourism Department of Yanling County, submitted Suggestions on Applying for Recognition of Memorial Ceremony for Emperor Yan and Emperor Huang as World Intangible Cultural Heritage, when attending the 4th Session of the 11th National People’s Congress on March 9th.

According to Director Tan, the memorial ceremony for Emperor Yan and Emperor Huang was listed among the first batch of national intangible cultural heritages in 2006. In 2007, Yanling County and Huangling County established sister-county ties. The recognition of the memorial ceremony for Emperor Yan and Emperor Huang as world cultural heritage can promote traditional Chinese culture. As a responsible nation and country, China will make further contributions to the integration of world cultures.

She suggested that the application should be conducted in the name of the whole country. Relevant departments at national level should organize experts to make on-site investigations to mausoleums of Emperor Yan and Emperor Huang, and provide guidance to project construction and protection. In addition, Ministry of Finance should support the application with special funds.
