The Tujia Mud Festival will be celebrated at Red Carbonate-Rock Stone Forest National Geopark in Guzhang County from August 22 to 23. The traditional festival is on the third day of the third month and the seventh day of the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar every year. On this occasion, young people of Tujia ethic group are encouraged to express their love by smearing their beloved one with mud.
Besides the crazy mud party, a large-scale art performance on intangible cultural heritage featuring Maogusi dance, Eba dance and hand-waving dances will be presented to tourists.
At night, delicious food and drinks, romantic music, numerous balloons with good wishes and the starry sky will accompany the campers into their lovely dreams.
