Guests of Hunan International Tourism Festival Explore Mysterious Fenghuang On Sept. 16, an interviewing team invited by the 2015 China Hunan International Tourism Festival visited Fenghuang ancient town to explore its rich culture and unique charm.
Situated in the southwest of Xiangxi Tujia & Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hunan Province, Fenghuang (Phoenix) Ancient Town is home to Miao and Tujia ethic groups, named for the mountain on its back that resembles a phoenix spreading wings.
The Chen Baozhen Museum is known as a cultural landscape in Fenghuang Ancient Town.
Built in the fifth year of the reign of Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty (1866), the Former Residence of Shen Congwen now hosts the handwritings, manuscripts, objects and portrait of the late famous writer.
The Tuojiang River is the mother river of the town, flowing through it and nurturing its people from generation to generation.
Enchanted with the music of Shaogong Haozi (Boatmen’s songs), visitors take the Wupeng Boat (Boat with black awning) to observe the century-old Tujia stilted buildings on both sides of the Tuojiang River, a total different experience.
