Various theme activities were held across Hunan’s provincial capital Changsha to mark China’s 6th Cultural Heritage Day falling on June 11, 2011.
It is the first Cultural Heritage Day celebrated in the country after the passage of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Law of the People’s Republic of China (Hereinafter referred to as the ICH Law) on June 1 this year.
Hunan Provincial Department of Culture commenced a series of intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, performances and promotion activities across the province to publicize the law.
According to the preliminary statistics, 158 promotion activities have been carried out in Hunan to celebrate the Cultural Heritage Day, involving a participation of 1.7762 million people.Promotion booths were set up in Changsha City to distribute the ICH Law and relevant publicity materials.
In addition, a special symposium on Intangible Cultural Heritages in Hunan was well received by the public.
