Hunan Changsha Expects More Cooperation with Singapore

Changsha Mayor Hu Henghua met with Lee Yi Shyan, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry and National Development in Changsha on April 23, when Lee visited with a delegation of Singaporean business leaders.

Hu said during the meeting that Singapore is an important trade partner, and he hoped for more Singaporean enterprises to invest in the city and for more productive cooperation in the future.

Lee said that Singapore will invest more in Central China cities in the future as most of its projects in China are currently distributed in coastal areas. He said that the nation will encourage more enterprises to invest in Changsha, while he hoped more Changsha companies will tap the Singaporean market.

The two sides achieved a total trade volume of $308 million in 2014, an increase of 64.5 percent compared with the previous year.

Changsha in Central China’s Hunan province is becoming a significant transportation hub with three major high-speed rails.
