Hunan Opens First Direct Flight to Africa

The first direct flight from Changsha to Aswan, Egypt, was open on July 9, 2017.

The 278 passengers by flight AL916 took off from the Changsha Huanghua International Airport at 2:05 am, July 9, and arrived at Aswan at 12:30 pm, July 10.

This is Hunan’s first direct flight to Africa, and its sixth intercontinental direct flight after those to Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Sydney, Melbourne, and Moscow.

The flight on Airbus A330 will be operated every Sunday, from Changsha to Aswan and Cairo shifts in weekly rotation.

Ticket booking is currently only available to the group tours organized by Hunan’s travel agencies.

To meet the summer travel demands, Hunan’s airports will add more than 1,200 flights, including domestic flights to Xining, Dunhuang, Qinghuangdao, Jinan, Hailar, Erdos, Wuxi, and Jinjiang, and international flights to Penang and Johor Bahru in Malaysia, Bali and Batam in Indonesia, and Surat Thani Province in Thailand.
