Hunan Opens First National Mine Park

Hunan Province opened its first mining and industry travel attraction, Baoshan National Mine Park in Guiyang County, Chenzhou City, to tourists on September 16.

Accredited by the Ministry of Land and Resources as a national mine park with rich historical culture in 2011, Baoshan National Mine Park is one of the 20 key travel projects sponsored by Hunan’s “251 Program” (a program designed to fund 20, 50 and 100 travel projects respectively at the provincial, municipal, and county level)

The park covers an area of 7.8 square kilometers, including a core area of 1.48 square kilometers. With a planned total investment of 0.47 billion yuan, the park is equipped with one center and seven different function zones, namely a visitor center, a mine garden, metallurgy observation zone, pit exploration zone, open-pit mining zone, mining and metallurgy expo park, training camp, and mining and smelting garden.

According to its overall plan, the park aims to forge itself into a 4A level national scenic spot in five years, and a 5A level one in the future.
