On the morning of January 27, at the Hunan Province Tourism Industry Annual Press Conference, Director of Hunan Tourism Bureau Zhang Zhiheng briefed the province’s travel development in 2014 and released “top ten priorities” for work in 2015. The province will develop rural pro-poor travel, red travel, intelligent travel and other products, so as to create numerous “Hunan Patterns”.
In 2014, Hunan Province received over 400 million person-time tourists from home and abroad, up by 14.39%; and achieved a total travel revenue of 304.619 billion yuan, growing by 13.58%.
The “top ten priorities” in 2015 include “enriching the people by developing rural travel”, “holding international cooperation to enhance red travel” and “facilitating people by intelligent travel”. The travel sector will focus on the project of enriching people, highlighting “beautiful rural areas” construction and supporting the first batch of 104 key villages to develop travel. This project will strive to build Zhangjiajie City and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture into national pro-poor travel demonstration areas and strengthen poverty relief and development in Wuling Mountain and Luoxiao Mountain areas. Joined by various departments such as the Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development of Hunan Province, the plan highlights development of travel routes along Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway (Hunan section) and Pingjiang-Rucheng Expressway, to explore the “Hunan Pattern” in poverty relief travel.
