Hunan to Celebrate Folk Song Festival Opulently

"At the festival, people can hear clarion folk songs, witness national intangible cultural heritage "hanging dragon dance" pursuing Guinness world record, and watch the manned kite contest", Party Chief of Chengbu Miao Autonomous County Luo Jiannan introduced at the press conference for the June 6 Folk Song Festival and the Second Hunan-Guilin Ecological Art Festival to be held in Chengbu, Shaoyao City.

Chengbu, one of the five Miao autonomous counties in China, is situated on the border between Hunan Province and Guangxi Province's Guilin City, known as "a strategic location in the Miao Territory and the end of south Hunan".

Every year, local people in Chengbu celebrate the June 6 Folk Song Festival according to the Chinese traditional lunar calendar. Now in its fifteenth year, the festival is expected to see the contracting of over 50 key projects worth more than 2 billion yuan.

In addition, celebrated dramatist and performer Huang Wanqiu, who starred as Liu San Jie (i.e. Third Sister Liu) in the musical movie "Liu San Jie", will join other ethnic singers in the June 6 Folk Song Festival.
