Renovation of Former Residence of General Chen Geng Completed in Hunan

he inauguration ceremony of the Former Residence of Senior General Chen Geng after renovation was held grandly in Quanhu Village of Longdong Township, Xiangxiang County on March 17.

Chen Geng (1903-1961), a native of Xiangxiang City, was a noted communist military general.
 
The ceremony was attended by Cai Lifeng, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, Vice Governor Han Yongwen, Wang Xiaoqin, vice president of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, Major General Leng Degui, director of Management Bureau of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) General Staff Headquarters, Major General Quan Xuening, vice minister of Armament Department of Chengdu Military Area Command, and Major General Xu Zihuai, deputy director of the Political Department of National University of Defense Technology.

Adjacent to Shaoshan, the Former Residence of Chen Geng was approved as a famous city-level historic site by Xiangxiang Municipal People’s Government in 1987, whose renovation work was launched on January 26, 2010. In a north-south orientation, the building consists of a main building and two ancillary buildings on east and west sides, making it a typical residential building with characteristics of central Hunan.
