The 2013 Zhangjiajie (China) Tourism Promotion Conference was held in Bangkok on December 16.
The conference aimed to publicize and promote the magical landform scenery of Zhangjiajie, a World Natural Heritage site, to the world and expand travel market in Thailand, with the joint efforts of Thailand counterparts.
According to Hou Jiaji, vice director of the Administration Office of Zhangjiajie International Forest Park, in recent years, travel exchange and cooperation between Zhangjiajie and Thailand has been enhanced, and direct tourist charter flights between the two places have been launched. In addition, Zhangjiajie has set up local travel flagship stores in Thailand, strengthening bilateral travel exchange and visit. With the tourist number hitting about 20,000, Thailand has become Zhangjiajie’s second largest overseas tourist source country.
A representative of the Tourism Authority of Thailand remarked that Thailand is a friendly neighbor of China and the two countries enjoy frequent cultural exchange. At present, China serves as the second largest overseas tourist resource country for Thailand.
